This committee will manage the governance of the process, bearing in mind established criteria such as respect to diversity, transparency and democracy, keeping a structure linked to goals and results, making governance a space for collective construction, promoting participation and contributions of other networks (with organized spaces, structure and resources), and keeping the link with other World Social Forums.

Involving other networks, organizing virtual events to promote participation in the WSFTE, participating in the content production or helping with fundraising are some of the tasks that international networks will have in the process towards WSFTE 2020.

In addition, networks decided that World Social Forum of Transformative Economies will celebrate on June 2020 in Barcelona, and the exact dates will be set in the following weeks.

Regarding the previous structure of the process, based on movements and transformative actions, networks decided to work about challenges and topics attacked by capitalism, and to look for answers and alternatives putting life in the center and respecting diversities.

It was also agreed to create different working commissions, that will be linked to the Coordination Committee, and will be supported by operational team:

How do we imagine WSFTE 2020?

In addition to the discussion about the structure, in the meeting there were spaces to imagine how could the WSFTE 2020 be like, bearing in mind criteria such as diversity or balance (in terms of gender, ethnicity, etc.). On one hand, there were different proposals for the activities in the Forum: agora spaces with workshops and micro-talks; guided visits to different transformative projects; self-managed spaces; virtual participation spaces; creativity spaces; mapping spaces; forum for children; activism schools; intergenerational spaces and even a “escape room” game based on transformative economies.

On the other hand, participants proposed that all these activities converge in a big central act of visibilization, which they imagined as a fair or exhibition, decentralized actions, virtual mobilization, a big popular dinner in the street or different demonstrations in the city, as well as activities before the WSFTE in different places.

Different actors that need to be involved in the process, but haven’t had significant participation so far were also considered. Global feminist movements; indigenous communities; squatter movements (from rural, urban and suburban areas); fight against climate change; spiritual movements; schools, teachers and students of all levels; academia; movements of young people; food producers; people from rural communities; debt and social justice networks; degrowth movements; worker’s movements; unions; international cooperativist movement; universities; United Nations agencies; alternative journalism; digital economy linked to labour rights coming from digital work; LGBT community with a critic view against corporate power; agents linked to waste recycling; people linked to Liberation Theology; another forums similar to WSFTE; movements of men against patriarchy; agents from Asia and Oceania were mentioned as actors that should get involved in the process from now on.

All this effort in terms of imagination, creativity, planning and structure is just the first step: all of us continue building WSFTE!
